Its funny how basic accounting fails to define this concept in a single non perplexed statement. Forgive my ignorance but I fail to understand why a simple equation cannot dictate or determine my "Book Value". A simple Assets minus Liabilities does not suffice. Throwing in concepts like retained earnings, duration since inception contribute as important attributes. What amuses me beyond annotation is considering those abtruse "intangible assets". I am not here to mock or even challenge the fundamentals of accounting. But a part of me, a not so very modest part of me nods in agreement everytime it takes a bunch of paramters to define my NET WORTH! :)
If it were not cumbersome to set an equivalent, everyone would have a price tag associated with them and by price I donot necessarily mean a bankroll! The challenge in life is to find your highest bid and capitalize. While most are busy negotiating a trade in : I am accumulating those unconciliable, non diminishing assets to heap up my net worth :)
Disclaimer: Net worth and Book Value are used interchangeably and they donot spell EQUITY! hehe :)
